Revfit Open & WPC World Championships
The 4th and 5th of November was a busy weekend for A.B.S powerlifting with lifters competing t the IrishPF Revfit Open and the WPC World Championship in Russia.
We shall kick off closer to home where A.B.S had 14 lifters competing around the corner at Revolution Fitness. We had a mix of lifters from seasoned internationals to beginners making their debut.
With some solid performances A.B.S managed to win the Club Championship for the 5th time since its introduction this year.

Twomey Strength & Conditioning
This was great a great achievement considering we only had one international lifer at this competition and shows that the lifters coming up behind them can still compete at regional level.
Anna Hourihane despite having the third best wilks in the IrishPF the last two years finally won her first best lifter award with the IrishPF, This is partly due to always competing at the highest level against open lifters despite being a junior.
Anna finished with very solid 8/9 performance with a 125kg squat 75kg bench ad 152,5kg deadlift leaving her with a 352.5kg total and 443.47 wilks
Caroline Cunniffe broke the All-Comp Bench Record (M3, -57) record with a solid 45.5kg bench and Kotchaphan Mai-On (Pla) broke the All-Comp Bench Record (Open and junior -47) record and qualified for the Leinster Regional team.
IRELAND'S STRONGEST WOMEN 2017
We were delighted to host our first strongwomen event this September and what an event it was. We put together a short video of some of the highlights from the event. Next year we aim to incorperate this into our ABS Open Event.
A.B.S OPEN 2017
2017 sees the launch of the A.B.S Open. This event was a massive success with some of Ireland's best lifters lifting under IPF rules from all federations. Check out the video below to get a feel of the atmosphere and maybe one day you will get the chance to lift at this event.
IRISH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017
The Irish Powerlifting Federation National championship was held at Irish Muscle Power this year. It was by far the best event to date held by the IrishPF with a kick ass atmosphere and massive crowd. A.B.S had over 20 lifters competing depsite a lot of injuries and pull outs as well as lifters on competing a few weeks before at the IPF Worlds.
Depsite these issue with still did very well winning more Open medals than any other gym 13 in total and breaking multiple National records accross all age classes.
IPF World Championships 2017 Belarus
The IPF World championships too many is the best competition in the World. It may not have the concert feel of lights and loud music but the standard across the field of all ages’ classes and weight classes is second to none.
A.B.S Powerlifting had 7 lifters representing Ireland 4 Open and 3 junior.
Hazel Hu finished with a very solid 367.5 total and 465.66 wilks finishing 6th overall and the highest in team Ireland. Hazel was injured leading into this event, which made her numbers even more impressive.
Anna Hourihane moved up from Junior to Open this year and has not stopped her progress. PB's in the squat, bench and total left her 9th overall in a class where the top 4 finished with 515+ wilks. 345kg total up by 25kg on last year’s comp.
Louise Kenna made her second appearance at a World Championship. A rough cut to make took its toll and she was not 100% however she battled on made her total and showed her experience.
Leslie Hoare made her debut on the international scene and had a great competition going 8/9 and securing a top 10 placing in the 84kg Open class and a total of 417.5kg
In the Junior 63kg class we had Aoife O'Sullivan the 63kg Deadlift record holder and Abi Cronin who recently come on board for this competition. Both did extremely well with Abi breaking 3 National records and Aoife just falling short of her own deadlift record.
