Meet Lars. Lars is lost and shy young man who shuns people. It is weird from outside the parenthesis, who is afraid to touch. Outside of work does not go anywhere. He lives in a garage next to the family home, who lives with his older brother’s wife. Even with them almost did not I see, can not be drawn even for dinner.
Lars is not happy to note that people from the immediate surroundings. Sister in law very earnestly seeking contact with him, in vain. Friends from the church and work, trying to find him a girl, to no avail. Lars prefers to be alone. Of course the time. His life will be completely transformed, all thanks to the girls. And that’s what! Lars ordered her over the Internet. No, it’s not luxurious Call Girl, a doll of human size.
Thanks to her, Lars ceases to be a recluse. Not holding her in his garage under the bed, he does not use it to satisfy their needs. Lars loves her, love sincere and purely platonic. Bianca gets her room, sometimes at parties, take part in religious services, it becomes part of the local community. Is even a volunteer, about itself, "he says," that was created in order to help others (!). Scenario, you have to admit, quite original (nominated this year for an Oscar). This is an extremely charming but naive story, which would not have reason to exist in the real world.
And certainly not in our Polish conditions. It is hard to imagine that people tolerate doll created to "delight" in the pew, even if they know that someone loves her, that she helps him in everyday life, is part of the therapy.
It is impossible to believe that no one condemns Lars, not ridicule, all according to accept the situation. This is not real life. It’s a fairy tale that has all the necessary elements has a light nienużącą story, a little humor, charming and clearly outlined the moral, but no villain here. Satisfaction from watching the image, you can draw only on the condition that we engage our emotions, like each hero and buy this imaginary story at any rate. Otherwise, all you see on the screen will start to wake up and irritations will only damming absurd. Once upon a time not so fascinated me any love story. Maybe it’s ridiculous, but there is more sincere affection than in other stereotyped romances. Gosling is great, thanks to him sometimes forget that Bianca is the only "big plastic thing" as in one scene, it determines brother Lars. Thanks to the cast (especially female) Emily Mortimer and Patricia Clarkson as Dagmar, you can turn a blind eye to some shortcomings. It is very easily digestible movie. Despite the fact that in large part is a moving drama, and only secondarily komedyjką instructive. There is a psychological depth. After the screening, it is hard to believe that such a dose of emotion can trigger doll sex shop. Feel the breath of fresh air. Stereotypes and patterns are there to be broken. Especially in the cinema. Needed are new, surprising ideas. But it is difficult to swallow bowled dose of banality. After the screening are mixed feelings. If it were not hungry, it would be perfect and finished work, it is not. A pity ..
