In less than a week 13 lifters from A.B.S Powerlifting will be flying out to the biggest raw powerlifting event on the IPF Powerlifting calendar, the IPF World Championships.

The event consists of over 1000 lifters ranging from 16 – 80+ years of age from well over 60 different Nations from seven continents.

To get to this competition alone is tough enough and requires you to be in and around the top 4% of the entire Irish Powerlifting Federation, the IrishPF is roughly made up of around a thousand members.

The sport is completely self funded minus the entry fees and doping fees which is covered by the Irish Powerlifting Federation. This means that lifters who are good enough to make it also have to pay for their own accommodation, flights, tracksuits and then take time away from work.

This isn’t a sob story either as every single lifter would rather choose representing their country than a week in the sun posting bullshit pictures on Instagram, making everyone hate their lives back home.

That being said it’s actually more expensive to travel and lift for your country than pig out by the pool for a week.

Which brings me to this email.

We need your support, but rather than beg we have set up a pretty decent raffle which has been supported by some awesome local businesses. If I didn’t have a moral compass I would have probably fixed the raffle and taken some of the spot prizes myself lol.

We have made it pretty cheap so everyone can help no matter how poor you are lol.
